Valve completely abandoned the idea of The International 10 in Stockholm
Swedish E-Sport Association announced that Valve completely abandoned the idea of The International 10 in Stockholm. Recent news of an imminent change of authorities in the country didn't inspire confidence in the developer.
On June 22, Valve published a letter stating that The International 10 in Sweden was in jeopardy. The authorities denied the tournament to receive the status of a high-level sports event. Consequently, all players and teams' staff couldn't get visas to the country as soon as possible since Sweden has strict restrictive measures. The letter reported a possibility of holding TI in Sweden if the authorities do go along with the developer.
The 10th anniversary of The International 10 was supposed to take place from August 5 to 15 in Stockholm, Sweden. However, despite the uncertainty of the venue, qualifiers in each region will start on schedule. In CIS and South America, the games began yesterday.
