The Lima Major 2023 is the most failed major for Chinese teams
Last night Team Aster, the last team from the Chinese region, left the Lima Major 2023. The team finished 7th-8th and earned $12,500 with 100 DPC points. This is the worst result for China since switching to a regional league system.
Starting in 2021, Valve has divided the Esports scene into competitive seasons. Each consists of regional leagues and majors. Since then, China never fell below third place, which happened at the ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021.
Moreover, if we take all Dota 2 majors, the result is comparable to ESL One Birmingham 2018. However, there was one team from China and only 12 participants.
The Lima Major 2023 runs from February 22 to March 5. The championship is located in Lima, the capital of Peru. The strongest teams from all over the world fight for a total prize pool of $500,000 and 1,900 DPC points. FISSURE, in cooperation with the BetBoom bookmaker, takes the official broadcast in Russian.
